A registry of diseased, dried, and damaged trees will be created in Tashkent

An inventory of trees and shrubs not included in the state forest fund will be conducted in Tashkent. This applies to those affected by diseases, damaged, dried up due to natural factors and pests, as well as those posing a threat to the life and health of people and the safety of property of legal entities and individuals. This is stipulated by the decision of Khokim Shavkat Umurzakov dated October 7.

Based on the results of the study, a registry will be formed indicating the quantity, species, condition, age, location of trees and shrubs, and other parameters.

The work will be led by a working group headed by First Deputy Khokim Bakhtiyor Rakhmonov. It will have to inspect the trees on-site, process, generalize, and enter the data into the tree registry. For the identified diseased, dried, and hazardous trees and shrubs, the persons responsible for the territory will have to submit applications for cutting permits.

The information must be certified and signed by the heads of departments, organizations, and enterprises, who will be held responsible for the accuracy of the data. The Tashkent Ecology Department has been instructed to conduct selective on-site inspections of the study results to confirm the accuracy of the provided information. It will submit summary information to the capital's khokimiyat on a quarterly basis.

In a comment to Gazeta.uz, the press service of the city khokimiyat noted that the main goals of the decision are "to obtain an objective picture of the state of green spaces, identify potential risks, and ensure the safety of citizens while preserving Tashkent's green fund."

"Special attention will be paid to diseased, dried, and damaged trees. But it is important to understand that the danger is not always posed by the tree as a whole. Sometimes the threat is created by individual dry or damaged branches, especially during strong winds and adverse weather conditions," the administration noted.
