A one-kilometer building that will surpass the Burj Khalifa is under construction

In Saudi Arabia, the Jeddah Tower skyscraper, which will be at least one kilometer high, is under construction. Upon completion, it is expected to surpass the Burj Khalifa and become the tallest building in the world. Meanwhile, mega-towers over 500 meters tall are also being built in the UAE, China, and Brazil.

A one-kilometer building taller than the Burj Khalifa is being constructed

The construction of skyscrapers today is no longer limited to merely realizing bold architectural ideas. Such structures serve to attract investment to cities, form new business hubs, and demonstrate the engineering potential of countries.

Below are the seven highest buildings currently under construction, listed in descending order of their design height. The list includes objects where construction work has commenced; projects where only the site is being prepared or work has been halted are not taken into account.

**Jeddah Tower - Jeddah, Saudi Arabia**

**Design height - at least 1,000 meters.**

Formerly known as Kingdom Tower, this skyscraper claims to change the perception of the world's tallest structures. The project envisages raising its height to over one kilometer and the number of floors to approximately 167.

Upon completion of construction, Jeddah Tower is expected to be taller than the Burj Khalifa and set a new world record.

The tower is planned as the central structure of the future Jeddah Economic City complex. Therefore, in addition to being an individual building, it is also a key part of the new urban area development project.

**Burj Azizi - Dubai, UAE**

**Design height - 725 meters.**

The tower being built by Azizi Developments on Dubai's Sheikh Zayed Road is named after the developer company. It is planned to become one of the tallest and most prominent buildings in the city.

The 725-meter figure, when compared to existing completed buildings, is second in height only to the Burj Khalifa. However, Burj Azizi's future place in the world rankings also depends on when other projects, in particular the Jeddah Tower, are completed.

The tower is being built on the site of the previously planned Entisar Tower. That canceled project by Meydan company had envisioned the construction of a 570-meter, 122-story building.
