Future rival of "Burj Khalifa": Jeddah Tower has reached 474 meters
The height of the Jeddah Tower under construction in Saudi Arabia has reached 474 meters, and the number of its floors has reached 118. Although the construction is not completed, the building is reported to have entered the top 15 tallest buildings in the world by height.

A future rival to the "Burj Khalifa": Jeddah Tower reaches 474 meters
The skyscraper known as Jeddah Tower, also referred to as JEC Tower and Kingdom Tower, is expected to become the tallest structure in the world upon completion. Its exact final height has not been disclosed, but it is said to exceed 1,000 meters. This is more than double its currently achieved height.
If the project is realized, Jeddah Tower will break the record of Dubai's "Burj Khalifa".
The tower was designed by the AS+GG architectural firm, which specializes in skyscraper design. Its founders are Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill. Smith previously participated in designing the "Burj Khalifa" while working at Skidmore, Owings & Merrill.
Jeddah Tower is already slightly taller than the second-tallest building in the US — the Central Park Tower in New York. This skyscraper was also designed by AS+GG.
Plans call for installing 59 elevators in Jeddah Tower. The building will house a luxury hotel, offices, spacious apartments, and tourist facilities. It is also planned to build the world's highest observation deck.
The tower will be the centerpiece of a new city district being built in the Saudi Arabian port city of Jeddah. The project is being implemented by Kingdom Holding.
Construction began in 2013, but work later halted at the 60th-floor level, resulting in a hiatus of several years. Publications at the time linked the delays to factors including political developments in the kingdom and purges initiated by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Construction has now resumed. The tower is rising at a time when some of Saudi Arabia's other megaprojects, including the Mukaab cube-shaped skyscraper and The Line — the "Line of Mirrors" city, are facing serious difficulties.
The completion of Jeddah Tower is scheduled for late 2028.
