Today, skyscrapers are being built not only as unique architectural monuments, but also to attract major investments, establish new business hubs, and demonstrate the technological potential of nations.
Naked Science compiled a list of the seven tallest skyscrapers currently under construction around the world. The list includes only buildings where construction work is actively ongoing. Projects whose construction has not yet begun or has been temporarily suspended were not taken into account.
**1. Jeddah Tower — Saudi Arabia**
Formerly known as Kingdom Tower, this skyscraper has a planned height of at least 1,000 meters and approximately 167 floors.
Upon completion, it is expected to surpass Dubai's Burj Khalifa and become the tallest building in the world. The tower is planned as the centerpiece of the future Jeddah Economic City complex.
**2. Burj Azizi — Dubai, UAE**
Burj Azizi is a skyscraper being built by Azizi Developments on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai. The tower is named after the developer company. The design height of the building is 725 meters. Upon completion of construction, it is expected to become the second tallest building in the world after the Burj Khalifa.
Previously, the 122-story Entisar Tower, with a height of 570 meters, was planned to be built on the site of Burj Azizi. However, this project by Meydan was not implemented. In 2018, Azizi Developments acquired the land plot. The project was revised, and its name was changed in January 2024. Construction officially resumed in 2025.
**3. Goldin Finance 117 — China**
The building was named Goldin Finance 117 because it was originally planned to have 117 floors. However, its total number of floors is 128. The tower reached a height of 597 meters back in 2015. But due to financial difficulties, construction was halted for nearly 10 years. Work resumed in 2025, and the building is planned to be commissioned in 2027.
Currently, there are only two buildings taller than it in China — the Shanghai Tower in Shanghai and the Ping An International Finance Centre in Shenzhen.
**4. Burj Binghatti Jacob & Co. — Dubai, UAE**
The skyscraper is being constructed as part of a joint project between the construction company Binghatti Properties and the luxury jewelry brand Jacob & Co.
**5. Senna Tower — Brazil**
Originally named Triumph Tower, the height of the tower is planned to reach 544 meters. According to the project, it should surpass New York's Central Park Tower and become the tallest residential building in the world.
The skyscraper is named in honor of the legendary Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna. The project is being carried out in collaboration between the Senna family and FG Empreendimentos. The architectural concept of the building was developed by the driver's niece, artist Lalalli Senna.
Construction is expected to be completed around 2030.
**6. Tiger Sky Tower — UAE, Dubai**
Tiger Properties is building the 532-meter-tall Tiger Sky Tower residential building in Dubai. Construction work began in 2024. Once commissioned, the building is expected to surpass New York's Central Park Tower and become the tallest residential building in the world.
**7. Six Senses Residences — Dubai, UAE**
Six Senses Residences is a luxury residential building under construction in the Dubai Marina area. Its design height is 517 meters. Upon completion of construction, it is expected to become the tallest building in the Dubai Marina area. The tower will also be taller than the 472-meter Central Park Tower in New York.
The building is being constructed in partnership between Select Group, one of Dubai's major development companies, and the Six Senses brand, which specializes in luxury hotels and resorts.
