A newly installed concrete pole collapsed in Sokh, severing a citizen's leg

In the Qizilqiyoq neighborhood of the Sokh district in the Fergana region, a newly installed utility pole broke just one day after its installation. The concrete fell onto the leg of 61-year-old Mirzomamat Sohibnazarov; as a result, the patient was taken to the hospital, where his right leg was amputated. This is not the first incident involving the collapse of utility poles in the Sokh district.

A newly installed concrete pole collapsed in Sokh, causing a citizen to lose a leg

According to Rofidjon Avazmamatov, on September 4 of this year, employees of a private company and the power grid company ("elektroset") installed a concrete pole near the gate of his household in the Qizilqiyoq neighborhood of Sokh district. On September 5, the pole broke at its base and crushed his father's leg.

“On September 4, employees of a private company and the power grid company installed a concrete pole near the gate of our household in the Qizilqiyoq neighborhood of Sokh district. On September 5, the pole broke at its base and fell on my father, who had gone out into the street, crushing his leg.

We immediately took my father to the central hospital of Sokh district. We were told that the patient needed to be taken to the city of Fergana. At the city hospital, they amputated my father's right leg. Because of a poorly made pole, my healthy father lost a leg and became disabled. We are still treating my father, who lost his leg, at home. It has been 3 months since the incident occurred. The responsible organizations have not checked on my father's condition even once,” says the victim's son.

According to Sherzod Rahimov, head of the Sokh District Electric Power Supply Enterprise, the pole that broke was manufactured and installed by a private enterprise.

According to a Kun.uz source, the concrete pole that caused the accident was manufactured in Sokh district by the "Solihaxon Saidaxon" private enterprise and installed in the neighborhood by the "Soʻx trans dunyo jahon" joint venture led by Davlatjon Bobomansurov.

This is not the first case in the district related to the collapse of a low-quality pole. The ongoing unfortunate incidents raise questions regarding the quality of the concrete mix.
