A new procedure has been established for organizing science olympiads among students of higher education organizations

A new procedure has been established for organizing subject olympiads among students of higher education organizations and supporting talented students. The relevant regulation was approved by the Government's resolution on September 17.
According to it, republican subject olympiads will be held in two stages. The first stage will be organized among undergraduate students in higher education organizations, and the second stage will be held in base higher education organizations designated by the ministry. Students who take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places at each stage will be recommended for the next stage.
A unified electronic information system will be maintained to register olympiad participants, monitor the processes, and publicly announce the results. The competitions will be held in auditoriums equipped with video surveillance cameras. The use of communication devices and additional sources during the olympiad is not allowed.
The results will be announced on the very day of the competition. Participants dissatisfied with the results can also submit a written appeal to the appeal commission on the same day.
Winners of the republican subject olympiads will be awarded a one-time cash prize. The 1st place winner will receive a prize in the amount of 50 BCAs, the 2nd place winner 40 BCAs, and the 3rd place winner 30 BCAs. Their mentors will be paid cash prizes in the amount of 25, 20, and 15 BCAs, respectively.
The prize amounts for international olympiads will be higher. For the 1st place, a student will receive 100 BCAs, for the 2nd place 75 BCAs, and for the 3rd place 50 BCAs. Mentors who prepared the winners will be paid a one-time prize in the amount of 50, 40, and 30 BCAs, respectively.
In addition, it is envisaged to establish a monthly allowance in the amount of 100 percent of the official salary for mentors who prepared winners of international olympiads, and 50 percent for mentors who prepared winners of the II stage of the republican subject olympiad.
The organization of olympiads, development of control materials, formation of a reserve of talented students, and coordination of organizational processes will be carried out by the Center for the Development of Higher Education and Global Cooperation under the ministry.
Also, the list of prestigious international olympiads in which students of Uzbekistan must participate will be approved and updated annually by the ministry. The selection and targeted preparation of national teams participating in international olympiads will be carried out on the basis of a separate regulation.
The possibility of organizing additional subject olympiads in agreement with higher education organizations, state bodies, and other interested organizations was also established.
In addition, measures will be taken to organize international subject olympiads in chemistry and biology among students by January 1, 2027.
The discount will be applied to the children of educators studying in the full-time form of education at the undergraduate level of state higher education organizations. If several children of an educator are studying in state HEIs on a paid-contract basis, the discount will be applied separately for each child.
