Samarkand is poised to host the inaugural international Mirzo Ulugbek Olympiad, a competition in physics and astronomy designed for students in grades 10-11, from June 19 to June 23, as confirmed by the Ministry of Public Education. Each participating nation is authorized to send a team of six pupils, with three focusing on physics and three on astronomy. The olympiad will feature two distinct examination phases: a theoretical assessment and an experimental challenge. An esteemed jury will evaluate the participants, comprising international experts in physics and astronomy, educators from CIS countries, and Uzbek scientists. Uzbek winners of the competition will be awarded the privilege of direct, exam-free admission to any university in Uzbekistan. The event is slated to be held every two years.
