A new checkpoint "Keskaner" will appear on the border of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan

A new checkpoint, "Keskaner," will open on the border of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

The new "Keskaner" checkpoint will appear on the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border, which will be twice as large as the currently operating "Dustlik." It is expected that after its commissioning, the volume of cargo transportation between the two countries will increase two to three times, and crossing the border will become faster by a week.

This was announced at a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, dedicated to the socio-economic development of the Andijan region, support for entrepreneurship, and growth of population incomes.

The emergence of "Keskaner" is linked to the growth of transport flows in the region. In particular, after the launch of the "China – Kyrgyzstan – Uzbekistan" railway, the volume of cargo transportation through the Andijan region is planned to increase tenfold — up to 15 million tons per year.

To ensure the servicing of the growing cargo flow, instructions have been given to launch a $600 million logistics complex project on a 300-hectare territory in Kurgontepa and Khanabad by the end of the year.

Designing will also begin for the 78-kilometer "Khanabad – Andijan" toll highway.

Another transport project will be the "Tashkent – Andijan" toll road. Practical work on its construction is planned to begin next year.

Meanwhile, the "Tashkent – Andijan" high-speed train has already started running since September. Travel time between the cities has been reduced from six to four hours.
