"Mamay" border crossing may be opened on the border of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan

This checkpoint was closed in 2020. Deputies of the Kyrgyz Parliament have been working on it for the past few years.

There is a possibility of opening the Mamay checkpoint on the border of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. This was reported by 24.kg.

Bakit Torobayev, the special representative of the President of Kyrgyzstan, inspected the implementation of the project for the Mamay international checkpoint, located in the Jalalabad region of Kyrgyzstan.

According to him, negotiations are underway to open this checkpoint and build the Kerben-Mamay highway.

Torobayev noted that "after the checkpoint is launched, it will be possible to export products produced by the local population to the neighboring country. This will also give impetus to the development of tourism. In particular, the flow of tourists to such beautiful places as Padisho-Ota, Sary-Chelek and Kara-Qamish is expected to increase. The economic activity of the local population will increase."

It should be recalled that the Mamai border crossing point on the Kyrgyz-Uzbek border was closed in 2020. Deputies of the Kyrgyz Jogori Kenesh have been calling for the restoration of the border post for the past few years.

According to reports, in July 2026, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan reached an agreement to increase the number of crossing points from 15 to 30.
