From March 2027, a high-speed train will be launched between Tashkent and Nukus. As a result, travel time will be reduced from 16 to 7 hours.

This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at a meeting dedicated to the socio-economic development of Karakalpakstan.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that projects aimed at improving the living conditions of the population are being implemented in the regions of the republic. In particular, a modern sanatorium began operating in the Bozatau district, oncology and radiology centers opened in Nukus, and a children's hospital and a maternity complex started working in Kungrad.
With the participation of the Asian Development Bank, the installation of concrete pavement on a 240 km section of the A-380 highway from Kungrad has been fully completed. The project cost amounted to $384 million.
On the eve, the construction of another 92 km of road passing through the Turtkul, Ellikkala, and Beruni districts also started. The cost of this project is $233 million.
It is expected that after the implementation of the projects, the transit flow will increase 1.5 times. The delivery time for goods traveling from Turtkul to the border with Kazakhstan will be reduced from 24 hours to 10 hours.
Starting March next year, a high-speed train will begin running between Tashkent and Nukus. Travel time will decrease from 16 to 7 hours.
In addition, there are plans to reconstruct the "Tuyamuyun" water treatment facility and begin construction of a 100-kilometer water pipeline from Kungrad to Muynak.
The head of state noted that Karakalpakstan has significant reserves of natural resources, minerals, solar and wind energy, as well as vast pastures. On this basis, a new industrial and investment map will be formed, covering the entire chain — from resource utilization to the manufacture of finished products.
The "Kungrad – Karauzyak – Takhiatash" direction is planned to be transformed into a "green industrial corridor" and a "triangle of the intellectual economy."
In a special zone for projects in the field of artificial intelligence and data centers, it is planned to implement six projects with a total value of $8 billion.
Those responsible have been instructed to develop a five-year program by October 1 and ensure a stable power supply of 1 GW for investors.
Within three years, it is planned to create 1.5 thousand high-paying jobs in Nukus, Kungrad, Karauzyak, and Takhiatash, and to bring the annual volume of exports in the field of cloud technologies and artificial intelligence to $600 million.
