High-speed train tested on Tashkent-Andijan route

A high-speed train was tested on the Tashkent-Andijan route. This was reported by the Tashkent Regional Railway Junction on August 31.

According to the report, the first high-speed electric train running from Tashkent to Andijan was tested. This new train was imported from China and can travel at a speed of 160 kilometers per hour.

“The train arrived from Tashkent to Andijan in four hours,” the report says.

Currently, the train has made a technical test run. It is expected to start serving passengers in the near future according to the schedule.

We recall that in February 2026, a Hyundai Rotem high-speed passenger train was imported to Uzbekistan from Korea. This train, called “Jaloliddin Manguberdi”, began operating on the Tashkent-Urgench-Khiva route in May. It is 175 meters long and can accommodate about 390 passengers in three classes - VIP, business and economy. The seven-car train can travel at speeds of up to 260 kilometers per hour, which has reduced the travel time from 14 hours for old trains to 7.5 hours.

The Ministry of Transport has announced that work is underway to launch Hyundai Rotem trains from Tashkent to Andijan and Termez. It is reported that technical specifications are being agreed on a project to supply eight electric trains to achieve this goal.
