A "green wave" has been launched for 11 traffic lights on Makhtumkuli Street in Tashkent

In Tashkent, on Makhtumkuli Street, specialists from the Traffic Management Center have configured 11 traffic light objects according to the "green wave" principle. Due to synchronization, the throughput capacity of the highway has increased by 12%, and the average travel time along the route has decreased by 10%.

Specialists analyzed traffic flows taking into account traffic intensity, traffic distribution by time of day, the duration of traffic light cycles, and travel time between intersections. The average daily traffic intensity in this direction reaches approximately 90,000 vehicles.

The system operates in two modes, taking into account the prevailing direction of the flow. From 00:00 to 13:00, coordination is set towards the center of Tashkent — from the three-level interchange at the intersection of Makhtumkuli and Yangi Uzbekistan streets to the Amir Temur Square, and from 13:00 to 00:00 — in the direction of the Tashkent region.

The design speed in the coordinated corridor is 55 kilometers per hour. If the recommended speed limit is observed, a vehicle sequentially enters the calculated green signal intervals at the subsequent intersections.

The main task of the system is to reduce the number of stops and minimize delays at intersections to ensure uniform traffic flow without physically widening the roadway. The actual travel time also depends on the current traffic situation, public transport operations, pedestrian phases, as well as potential traffic accidents or road works. Specialists continue to analyze traffic and adjust regulation in other areas of the capital.
