85 injured in German Cup clashes

85 people were injured in a brawl that broke out after a German Cup match between Waldhof and Kaiserslautern. Kaiserslautern won 1-0.
After the match, a fight broke out between players. After that, fans of the teams began throwing various objects, including fireworks, at each other. This led to fans pouring onto the field. According to police, 35 employees suffered minor injuries. About 1,400 security personnel were deployed to ensure the safety of the match.
"The police were able to push the rioters back towards the stands. A mounted police unit was also deployed at the stadium. 35 law enforcement officers were slightly injured by flares. In total, 85 people required medical attention. Several fans were arrested," the report said.
Police have launched an investigation into various offenses, including insults, assault and damage to property.
The match was held at the Karl-Benz Stadium in Mannheim and was watched by about 23,500 spectators. About 3,500 of them were away fans. The atmosphere in the stadium was tense during the match, with fireworks being set off several times in the stands.
The situation became even more tense after no goals were scored for 90 minutes. After a clash between players on the pitch, some Kaiserslautern fans threw fireworks towards the stands. In response, Mannheim fans began to run onto the pitch en masse.
