Bayern Munich player faints for second time in four days

Worrying news from Germany: Bayern Munich's young star Jamal Musiala has fallen ill for the second time in four days. This time, the German midfielder fainted during a friendly match against Heidenheim.

The 23-year-old Musiala first fell ill due to heatstroke during a friendly match against RB Leipzig on August 14. He collapsed in the 83rd minute of the match, a few minutes after scoring the goal. Teammate Ismail Saibari noticed Jamal's discomfort and ran over to hug him. His bravery saved Musiala from collapsing on the pitch.

The medical staff spent several minutes treating the player. Jamal was then able to leave the field on his own. According to Bild, the player was suffering from heatstroke: “Jamal Musiala complained of dizziness and circulatory problems due to the heat. Initial tests conducted by Bayern doctors after the incident have not yet revealed any problems. It is expected that the 23-year-old player will need a few days of rest and recovery.”

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said that “everything is fine with Jamal and that is the most important thing.”

The next day, Musiala visited the training ground accompanied by a fitness coach, practiced dribbling and shooting at goal, and had an individual workout. During the training session, there were no health problems, and he successfully passed the tests.

But on August 18, the situation repeated itself. Musiala felt unwell again and fell to the grass. Teammates and opposing players formed a circle to block the cameras while he was being treated by doctors. The player soon got up and, leaning on the medical staff, left the field. It is noteworthy that he had only recently joined the game from the bench (he came on in the 61st minute and was replaced in the 68th minute).

A few hours after the incident, the player made a statement on his social media pages about his condition: “First of all, the most important thing is that I am fine! First of all, thank you very much for your messages and support! I understand that many of you are worried. Today I would like to dispel your concerns and explain some things. I have been diagnosed with short-term but easily treatable absences (short-term loss of consciousness) caused by neurological dysfunction. This could lead to situations like the one against Leipzig or now against Heidenheim. I know it looks scary at first glance, but at the moment they are part of my everyday life. I am receiving excellent medical care and am in a very good mood. Bayern and those around me are supporting me on this path.

It is important to note that there is no further risk to my health. It was my personal choice to accept this challenge in close cooperation with the specialists and, with the permission of the neurologists, I want to continue doing what will help me recover the most - just living my daily life and continuing to play football with all my might. I have taken responsibility for this. Overall, I feel very good and am on the right track. What helps me the most is to continue winning victories and titles with my team, with your support.

I hope this helps you understand me better. At the same time, I would like to keep this topic only among my closest friends, the club and experts, hoping that you will accept the situation correctly. Thank you very much!

Everyone supports Jamal

Tens of thousands of comments were left under Musiala's post. Most of them were written in support of the player.

"Get well soon," said Spanish national team midfielder Pedri.

"Don't worry, my friend, we are with you," said former Bayern Munich player Thomas Muller.

"We are all with you," added Musiala's teammate Aleksandr Pavlovich.

In addition, in the comments you can find Manuel Neuer, Florian Wiers, David Alaba, Dayot Upamecano, Luis Diaz, Jude Bellingham and many other famous players.

Such support is very important for Jamal. Due to a serious injury sustained at the beginning of last season, he missed most of the Bundesliga season and only started playing towards the end of the season.

Musiala has been playing for Bayern since 2020. With the Munich team, he won the German championship six times (2019/20, 2020/21, 2021/22, 2022/23, 2024/25, 2025/26), the national cup (2025/26), the UEFA Super Cup (2020) and the Club World Cup (2020).
