6.4 billion soums of damage caused to the "Talligulontepa" archaeological site in Samarkand
It was discovered that the "Tallig'ulontepa" archaeological site in the Pastdarg'om district of the Samarqand region was damaged using heavy machinery. According to calculations, the material damage amounted to 6 billion 435 million soums. Documents regarding the situation have been sent to the prosecutor's office.

It has been revealed that the "Talligulontepa" archaeological site, located in the Pastdargom district of the Samarkand region, was damaged using heavy machinery.
After reports of the monument being destroyed spread on social networks, specialists from the Cultural Heritage Department of the Samarkand region conducted an investigation in the area.
During the inspections, it was determined that certain parts of the archaeological site had been subjected to mechanical impact with heavy machinery and were damaged. In addition, the protection sign installed on the territory of the monument was removed by an unknown person.
The amount of damage caused to the monument was calculated based on the methodology approved by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers dated March 30, 2019. As a result, the material damage was determined to be 6 billion 435 million soums.
A relevant report was drawn up regarding the identified damage, and the necessary documents were sent to the Samarkand Region Prosecutor's Office to provide a legal assessment of the situation.
The "Talligulontepa" archaeological site dates back to the 5th–6th and 10th–12th centuries and is located in the territory of the "Sinchi" neighborhood citizens' gathering (MFY) of the district. It is included in the National List of Real Estate Objects of Tangible Cultural Heritage, approved by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers dated October 4, 2019. The monument is assigned to the Cultural Heritage Department of the Samarkand region under the right of operational management.
In 2025, 71 illegal cases were identified at cultural heritage sites, and materials on them were sent to law enforcement agencies. Also, reports were drawn up regarding damage caused to 7 sites.
By region, 64 cases related to causing damage were recorded. Of these, 27 occurred in the Tashkent region, 9 in Kashkadarya, 7 in Samarkand, 7 in the city of Tashkent, 6 in Jizzakh, 3 in Andijan, 3 in Surkhandarya, 1 in Fergana, and 1 in the Namangan region.
