60-70 Centners per Hectare: President Inspects Cotton Cultivation Using the Xinjiang Method
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the "Agroklaster Oltinko‘l" enterprise to inspect the process of cotton cultivation based on the Xinjiang method.
In our country, special attention is paid to the development of agriculture, the introduction of advanced technologies into the sector, and the application of scientific developments and approaches to production.
The decree of the head of our state dated December 9, 2025, on increasing productivity in cotton and grain growing, became an important legal basis for expanding work in this direction.
The use of the Xinjiang method in cotton growing not only significantly increases productivity but also allows for the saving of water, fertilizer, and other resources, as well as reducing the costs of cotton cultivation.
The total cultivated area of the "Agroklaster Oltinko‘l" enterprise is 850 hectares. Out of this, cotton cultivation based on the Xinjiang method has been established on 23 hectares.
In the Xinjiang technology, cotton seeds are planted in double rows under plastic mulch. This helps to maintain stable soil moisture and temperature, ensuring early and uniform germination of the seeds.
Through the drip irrigation and fertilization system, water and nutrients are delivered directly to the roots of the cotton plant. As a result, waste is prevented, saving up to 40 percent of water and nearly 30 percent of fertilizer.
While an average of 30-35 centners of cotton is harvested per hectare using the traditional method, this figure reaches 60-70 centners with the Xinjiang technology. Due to the favorable microclimate formed under the plastic mulch, the crop can be harvested 10-15 days earlier than in traditional fields.
The main part of the agrotechnical activities at the enterprise is carried out using agrodrones. This drastically reduces the need for special machinery and fuel consumption.
The head of our state was briefed on the results of the project, its economic efficiency, and plans to further expand this technology.
