550 billion soums to be allocated for crop irrigation in Qashqadaryo

Improvement of water supply and introduction of water-saving technologies for the development of 30 thousand hectares of land identified on the basis of space data

550 billion soums will be directed for crop irrigation in Qashqadaryo

In order to improve water delivery to crop fields in Qashqadaryo region, 265 kilometers of canals will be concreted and 20 pumps will be modernized next year. 550 billion soums will be allocated for these works.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev drew attention to the fact that delivering water to crop fields in the region is complex and expensive. It was also determined that by 2027, together with farmers, water-saving technologies will be introduced on an area of 75 thousand hectares.

Based on space data, an additional 30 thousand hectares of land that can be brought into use in the region have been identified. The largest portion of it falls to Muborak, Koson, and Ko‘kdala districts.

Additional areas will also be developed in Nishon, Qamashi, Qarshi, Mirishkor, G‘uzor, Yakkabog‘, Kitob, Chiroqchi, and Shahrisabz districts. 10 permanent consultants from Egypt will be involved in these works.

This year, one small reservoir with a capacity of 50 thousand cubic meters was built in each of Koson, Nishon, Qamashi, and Mirishkor districts.

As part of expanding the experience, two more such reservoirs will be constructed in each of Koson, Nishon, Mirishkor, Qamashi, and Yakkabog‘ districts by June 1.
