$292 million to be allocated to the expansion of the petrochemical cluster in Bukhara
Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the Tekhnochem enterprise in the Bukhara district and got acquainted with the activities and future projects of the petrochemical cluster.
The head of state was informed about the next phase of expanding the cluster. According to it, an investment project worth $292 million is planned to be implemented by the end of 2028.
Within the framework of the project, processing of gas condensate and naphtha, as well as production of aromatic hydrocarbons and solvents will be launched. As a result, the annual processing capacity of the enterprise is expected to increase by another 400 thousand tons, creating 700 new jobs.
It was reported that the "Tekhnochem" enterprise is located on an area of 69 hectares, employing nearly 500 workers. The cluster specializes in processing oil and gas condensate, naphtha, methanol, and pyrolysis distillate. The complex operating in this direction is the only one in Uzbekistan.
The enterprise has a capacity to process 100 thousand tons of pyrolysis distillate, as well as 160 thousand tons of naphtha and gas condensate per year. In the processing procedure, along with fuel, products used in the chemical industry are also obtained. In particular, octane booster is used to improve gasoline quality, while solvents are used in the production of paints, varnishes, glues, and household chemicals.
The enterprise also plans to increase its export volumes. Specifically, it is intended to export nearly 180 thousand tons of petrochemical products, motor gasoline, and diesel fuel annually to Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and European Union countries.
In addition, negotiations are underway with foreign partners to implement a project for processing 150 thousand tons of liquefied gas in 2028–2030. The launch of new production capacities is expected to increase the demand for technologists, engineers, chemists, and laboratory specialists.
In this regard, the president stressed the need to strengthen cooperation between vocational education and production in the region. The head of state provided recommendations on increasing the export potential of the cluster and training qualified personnel for new capacities.
