18-year-old golfer dies in Thailand while preparing for tournament

18-year-old Australian golfer Jessica Bang, who was preparing for a tournament in Thailand, has died from a brain hemorrhage. This was reported by the press service of the Australian Women's Professional Golf Association (WPGA Tour of Australasia).

It is reported that Bang suddenly lost consciousness on August 1 while preparing for a tournament in the Thai capital Bangkok. She was urgently taken to hospital and underwent brain surgery. However, despite all the efforts of doctors, the golfer could not recover and died on August 13.

The Australian Women's Professional Golf Association described Bang as an "extraordinary young talent" and noted that her death was a great loss for the Australian golf community. The organization expressed its deepest condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the deceased athlete.

Jessica Bang was reportedly in Bangkok preparing to compete in the South Korean Women's Professional Golf Tour International Qualifying Tournament. She quickly became one of the most promising young athletes in Australian golf after becoming a professional golfer in late 2025.

She won her first victory in her fifth professional tournament in early 2026. She won the regional qualifying round of the Women's Professional Golf Tour in New South Wales, Australia.
