19-year-old cyclist dies at prestigious tournament in Portugal

A 19-year-old cyclist has died at a prestigious tournament in Portugal.

British cyclist Finlay Tarling has died from injuries sustained in a road accident on the eighth stage of the Volta a Portugal multi-day cycling race.

The 19-year-old athlete collided with a car coming from the opposite direction to the direction the peloton was moving. He died at the scene.

The organizers have decided to temporarily stop the multi-day cycling race. The further fate of the tournament is still unknown.
