150 billion soums allocated to prepare Uzbekistan's roads for winter
In Uzbekistan, 150 billion soums have been directed toward preparing 42,371 kilometers of public highways for the autumn-winter season. This was announced at a briefing by Nilufar Djumayeva, head of the information service of the Committee for Roads.
To combat snow and ice, plans call for fully building up reserves of 70.9 thousand tons of industrial salt and 113.2 thousand cubic meters of sand by November 1. In addition, special teams of over 18 thousand workers and machine operators will be deployed to work on hazardous sections.
Uninterrupted traffic flow in winter will be ensured by 2,140 units of road machinery, including 423 snow removal and sand spreading vehicles, as well as 211 snowplows.
Round-the-clock duty and constant dispatch communication will be organized at the Kamchik, Takhtakaracha, Akrabat, and Chak-Chak passes, the Jizzakh pass, and other challenging road sections.
