Twelve children from Russia returned to Uzbekistan

Twelve minor Uzbek citizens abandoned in various regions of the Russian Federation were repatriated to their homeland on August 29, 2026, according to the Office of the Children's Ombudsman of Uzbekistan.

The children's return was made possible through the joint efforts of the Commissioner for Children's Rights in Uzbekistan and his Russian counterpart. During their stay in Russia, the minors were placed in specialized children's institutions at their respective locations.

With the assistance of the Russian Children's Ombudsman, the children were provided with all necessary conditions in their host regions, including Novosibirsk, Kazan, Tula, and the Moscow region. They were provided with special care, housing, organized meals, clothing, and all necessary supplies.

On August 29, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs delivered all 12 children to Uzbekistan.

Currently, the arriving minors are temporarily housed at the Center for Social and Legal Assistance to Minors of the Crime Prevention Department of the Main Department of Internal Affairs of Tashkent.

The Children's Ombudsman of Uzbekistan confirmed its intention to continue collaborating with international partners and national agencies to return children left unattended abroad to the country.
