Workplace tragedy: 59-year-old worker buried under earth
In the Kiziltepa district of the Navoi region, a hired worker died due to a collapse of the ground while repairing pipes.

According to information provided to Daryo by Hayot Shamsutdinov, head of the press service for the Prosecutor General's Office, the tragedy occurred on August 7. The incident occurred in the Alisher Navoi mahalla in the Kiziltepa district during repair work on obsolete underground pipelines.
Those present at the scene attempted to assist the victim using shovels and other available means, but were unable to extricate him from the rubble.
The deceased is survived by four children.
Investigators from the Kiziltepa district police department are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
According to the Labor Inspectorate, 447 workplace accidents were recorded in the first half of 2026, 113 of which resulted in death.
