Inson Social Worker Killed During Hashar in Ferghana Region
A social worker from the Inson center died during a public cleanup drive (hashar) in the Ferghana region after being struck by a broken blade.
In a tragic incident in Uzbekistan's Ferghana Region, T. Zhuraev, a social worker with the regional Inson social services center, lost his life during a community cleanup event, known as a hashar. The Social Protection Agency confirmed the death, which occurred in the Uchkuprik district.
The agency detailed that on July 29, 2026, the Uchkuprik district khokimiyat organized the cleanup, enlisting members of the "makhalla seven." During the activities, a brush cutter operated by hired laborers malfunctioned, causing a blade to detach.
T. Zhuraev, who was overseeing the work at the time, was struck in the abdomen by the flying fragment and succumbed to his injuries.
The Social Protection Agency extended its deepest sympathies to the family, relatives, and friends of T. Zhuraev, assuring them of ongoing support and attention from the agency.
Furthermore, the agency announced that a thorough investigation is underway. This inquiry will examine adherence to occupational safety standards and the circumstances under which employees were engaged in tasks outside their regular job responsibilities. Upon completion of the investigation, the actions of the officials in charge will undergo legal evaluation, and appropriate measures will be implemented as warranted.
