Uzhydromet warns of mudflow danger in mountainous areas through August 7
Uzhydromet has warned of possible mudflows in the foothill and mountainous areas of four regions of Uzbekistan between August 4 and 7 due to expected rainfall.
Uzhydromet has issued a mudflow alert for mountainous districts, effective until August 7.
The warning encompasses specific areas within the Tashkent, Namangan, Fergana, and Andijan regions.
In Tashkent region, the districts of Ohangaron, Bostanlyk, Parkent, Pskent, Urta Chirchiq, and Yuqori Chirchiq are at risk, as are the cities of Angren and Almalyk.
For Namangan region, the advisory applies to Pap, Kosonsoy, Chortoq, Chust, Namangan, and Yangiqorgon districts.
Fergana region's warning covers Sokh, Fergana, and Besharyk districts, in addition to the Shohimardon area.
In Andijan region, the potential for mudflows exists in Andijan, Asaka, Jalaquduq, Qorgontepa, Pakhtaobod, Izboskan, Khojaobod, and Marhamat districts, as well as the city of Khonobod.
Uzhydromet strongly advised residents in foothill and mountainous zones, along with tourists and drivers utilizing mountain routes, to proceed with vigilance throughout the warning period.
The agency further indicated that certain locations might experience the buildup of rainwater, potentially resulting in localized flooding.
