Uzbekneftegaz Targets Higher Gas Production in August
Uzbekneftegaz plans to boost natural gas production in August and September through new wells, infrastructure upgrades and field modernization.
Uzbekneftegaz has designated August and September as months for boosting natural gas production, a goal established during a recent operational meeting led by Chairman Aziz Sanginov, as announced by the company.
The meeting focused on strategies to increase gas output, enhance field operations, modernize production infrastructure, and improve employee working conditions.
Company leadership directed teams to upgrade field operation systems, bolster power supply reliability at production facilities, modernize transformer equipment, replace insulators, and ensure the efficient functioning of gas-powered generating units.
Significant attention was given to executing the August gas production plan, with scheduled activities reviewed for each 10-day interval, as well as for specific fields and wells.
According to Uzbekneftegaz, 27 new wells are slated for commissioning in August.
The company was also instructed to enhance the efficiency of its existing well stock, expedite major and routine repairs, clearly define areas of responsibility, and collaborate with Chinese research institutes to advance well repair technologies.
Following an assessment of deficiencies in the implementation of the company's 2026 targeted and investment programs, management instructed divisions to commence preparations for the 2027 programs. Key priorities include refining project planning, accelerating 3D seismic surveys, developing an exploration program, ensuring timely project execution on new blocks, preventing construction delays, and strengthening material and technical support.
To ensure drilling projects are completed on schedule, Uzbekneftegaz was directed to accelerate deliveries of imported equipment, prepare the necessary road and engineering infrastructure in advance, and deploy additional machinery.
The meeting concluded that introducing modern technologies, expanding the use of automated management systems, ensuring the efficient operation of modern equipment, and further improving production efficiency remain the company's primary objectives.
Working conditions at production facilities in the Ustyurt region were also reviewed and deemed unsatisfactory. Management instructed the company to undertake major repairs to workers' dormitories, provide employees with protective clothing, and bring living conditions up to modern standards.
A new dormitory in Ustyurt is scheduled for commissioning by August 25, while dormitories at the Kokdumalak, Pamuk, and Alan fields are to undergo full renovation by year-end.
All company divisions were also instructed to ensure thorough preparations for celebrations marking the 35th anniversary of Uzbekistan's independence.
As previously reported, Uzbekistan's natural gas production totaled 18.3 billion cubic meters from January to June 2026, representing a 16.4 percent decrease from the 21.9 billion cubic meters produced during the same period in 2025.
