Uzbekistan’s passenger car output rises 12.8% to 235,700 units in 1H26
Uzbekistan's National Statistics Committee reports a 12.8% surge in passenger car production, reaching 235,700 units in the first half of 2026. This growth was particularly pronounced in the second quarter, with May seeing 41,600 vehicles produced (a 16.1% year-on-year increase) and June reaching 45,300 units (a 20% increase over June 2025).
The Chevrolet Cobalt maintained its position as the most-produced passenger vehicle, with UzAuto Motors manufacturing 82,951 units in the first six months, a 13.4% increase from the same period in 2025. Monthly Cobalt production peaked in May at 15,500 units (up 9.5% year-on-year) before a slight dip to 13,649 vehicles in June, which was 3.9% below June of the previous year.
The Damas secured the second spot in production volume with 42,663 vehicles, despite a 7.2% decline compared to the first half of 2025. May production for the Damas was 6,917 units (down 21.4% year-on-year), but June saw an increase to 7,394 vehicles, marking a 2.1% year-on-year rise and its first monthly production increase in recent months.
The Chevrolet Tracker was the third most-produced model, with 23,249 vehicles manufactured, an increase of 1.8% from the previous year. May production totaled 4,001 units (a marginal 0.4% increase), while June output was 4,730 vehicles, slightly below the level recorded a year earlier.
Production of the Chevrolet Onix saw an 8.4% year-on-year increase, reaching 18,715 vehicles. This growth is attributed to significantly higher monthly production in May and June compared to the same months in 2025.
For the first time, the National Statistics Committee released production data for the Damas Move minivan. Since its production commenced in February, UzAuto Motors has assembled 600 units of this new model.
Among international brands assembled in Uzbekistan, Kia remained the leading producer, manufacturing 15,184 vehicles in the first half of the year, a 29% year-on-year increase. Kia's production rebounded in May to 2,246 vehicles (a 61% increase from the previous year) and then surged past 4,000 units in June, nearly doubling May's output and increasing 2.4 times year-on-year.
BYD experienced the most rapid production growth among major manufacturers. The Jizzakh plant produced 13,405 vehicles in the first six months of 2026, representing over 90% growth compared to the same period last year. The company more than doubled production in both May and June compared to the corresponding months of 2025, though the growth rate moderated from earlier in the year.
Haval increased production by 43% year-on-year to 5,061 vehicles. May output reached 613 units, more than double the previous year's level, while June production rose to 1,023 vehicles, approximately two-thirds higher than in June 2025.
Chery produced 4,384 vehicles in the first half of the year, a 6.1% increase compared to the same period last year. This increase was driven by stronger June production, which reached 1,228 vehicles—more than double May's output and 60% higher than in June 2025.
