Uzbek Car Production Grows 12.8 Percent in H1 2026

Uzbekistan's automotive sector experienced a notable expansion in the first half of 2026, with passenger car manufacturing seeing a 12.8 percent increase, reaching a total of 235,794 units. This marks an increase from the 208,975 units produced during the corresponding period in the previous year, as reported by the National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics.

The production of trucks also saw a substantial rise, growing by 21.3 percent to 2,751 units, up from 2,268 units a year prior. Similarly, the output of specialized vehicles surged by 26.7 percent, from 23,353 units to 29,582 units.

Examining specific passenger car models, the Cobalt led in production volume, with 82,951 units manufactured, an increase of 13.5 percent from 73,102 units in the previous year. The BYD model demonstrated remarkable growth, with its output soaring by 91.5 percent to 13,405 units, compared to 7,000 units in January–June 2025. Haval production climbed by 43.1 percent, reaching 5,061 units from 3,538, while Kia's output increased by 29.1 percent, from 11,763 to 15,184 units.

Conversely, some models experienced a decrease in production. Damas output fell by 7.2 percent, totaling 42,663 units compared to 45,992 units a year earlier. Despite this, other models saw modest gains: Onix production rose by 8.5 percent to 18,715 units from 17,249, Chery output increased by 6.1 percent to 4,384 units from 4,131, and Tracker production edged up by 1.8 percent to 23,249 units from 22,847 units last year. Additionally, the agency highlighted the commencement of production for the Chevrolet Damas Move model, with 600 units produced within the six-month timeframe.
