Uzbekistan's Natural Gas Output Drops 16.4% in First Half of 2026

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – Data from the National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Statistics reveals a significant decrease in natural gas production during the first six months of 2026. The country produced 18.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas between January and June 2026, marking a 16.4 percent reduction from the 21.9 billion cubic meters extracted in the corresponding period of 2025.

The agency also reported a decline in crude oil extraction, which fell by 3.1 percent to 313,800 tonnes in the reporting period, down from 323,900 tonnes in January–June 2025.

Similarly, gas condensate production experienced a substantial drop of 19.7 percent, totaling 462,100 tonnes compared to 575,200 tonnes a year prior.

Coal mining also saw a decrease, with 2.5 million tonnes extracted in January–June 2026, a 16.7 percent fall from the 3.0 million tonnes mined during the same period last year.

However, in a contrasting trend to the reduction in raw material extraction, the production of refined petroleum products showed an increase. Diesel fuel output rose by 2.1 percent, reaching 568,000 tonnes, up from 556,400 tonnes in January–June 2025.

Motor gasoline production also saw an uptick, increasing by 6.0 percent to 614,200 tonnes, compared to 579,700 tonnes produced a year earlier.
