Uzbekistan to Require Mandatory Animal Registration
Mandatory registration and veterinary passports for pets and livestock will take effect in Uzbekistan starting 7 August.
Uzbekistan will implement a system of mandatory registration for all domestic pets and livestock, effective August 7, 2026. This new requirement will involve obtaining veterinary passports and official state registration for animals.
The veterinary passport will function as an official record, detailing the animal's unique identification number, the owner's information, and a comprehensive history of vaccinations and medical treatments.
Under the new regulations, specific timelines have been set for registration based on animal type. Owners will be required to register cattle, sheep, goats, and camels within 14 days of their birth. Pigs must be registered within 30 days, while horses need to be registered before they reach four months of age. For dogs and cats, registration is mandated before they turn three months old.
To acquire a veterinary passport, owners must submit an application along with an identification document to their local district or city veterinary department. The process for state registration and the issuance of the veterinary passport is expected to be completed within three days.
It is noted that current legislation already includes provisions for mandatory animal identification and registration.
Furthermore, the potential introduction of penalties for delayed animal registration may be addressed through separate regulatory acts.
