Uzbekistan Joins ICCA to Boost Global MICE Tourism Market

Uzbekistan has officially joined the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), a move expected to enhance its presence in the global MICE tourism market. The Project Office for the Development of Tourism Products, a state institution operating under Uzbekistan's Tourism Committee, confirmed its new membership. This affiliation is set to broaden the nation's prospects for attracting significant international business events, according to the committee.

ICCA membership signifies Uzbekistan's acknowledgment as a key player in the worldwide MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism sector. The association comprises convention bureaus, tourist destinations, professional event organizers, and specialized firms from over 100 countries.

The Tourism Committee underscored that its involvement with ICCA will facilitate direct engagement with the international professional community responsible for scheduling congresses, conferences, and other business gatherings. This will enable Uzbekistan to submit proposals to host major international forums, participate in discussions with industry associations, and promote itself as a prime location for world-class events.

The development of MICE tourism is seen as a catalyst for attracting high-spending visitors, thereby benefiting various economic sectors such as hospitality, catering, and transportation. The committee noted that attendees of international events often explore cultural attractions and experience local cuisine and tourism infrastructure in addition to their business agendas.

Furthermore, ICCA membership will provide access to an international analytical database focused on the congress and business event market. It will also allow Uzbekistan to leverage global expertise in crafting bid proposals for international events, elevate the skills of its tourism specialists, and foster greater collaboration with international partners.

The Tourism Committee emphasized that joining ICCA aligns with ongoing efforts to improve tourism infrastructure, increase hotel capacity, build modern convention centers, expand international air travel options, and promote Uzbekistan's tourism potential globally.
