Uzbekistan, Italy strengthen cooperation in construction, urban development

Uzbekistan and Italy are reinforcing their collaborative efforts in the fields of construction and urban planning. This was the focus of a recent discussion between Sherzod Khidoyatov, Uzbekistan's Minister of Construction and Housing and Utilities, and Guido De Sanctis, Italy's new Ambassador to Uzbekistan.

The Ministry of Construction and Housing and Utilities reported that the meeting centered on enhancing bilateral ties and sharing expertise in architecture, urban design, and the modernization of housing and communal services. Both nations explored avenues for joint ventures aimed at upgrading Uzbekistan's housing and utilities infrastructure, leveraging Italy's experience in construction and urban development.

Key areas of discussion included fostering sustainable regional growth, integrating contemporary urban planning methodologies, utilizing energy-efficient and eco-friendly construction techniques, bolstering the seismic resistance of structures, and improving public infrastructure.

Participants also deliberated on examining Italy's architectural and engineering practices and adapting them to Uzbekistan's specific context. Furthermore, the meeting addressed the potential for increased direct collaboration among industry bodies, research institutions, and private enterprises. Plans were discussed for organizing joint workshops, professional development programs, and practical initiatives involving experts from both countries.

The ministry anticipates that the integration of innovative construction methods, the adoption of advanced technologies, and the application of international best practices will contribute to the continued evolution of Uzbekistan's urban planning policies and construction industry.
