Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Sign Pension Security Agreement
Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan signed an agreement on state social insurance and pension security on 30 July 2026 to safeguard citizens' pension rights.

Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan inked a pension security pact on July 30, 2026, in Cholpon-Ata, during a high-level gathering.
This agreement seeks to safeguard the pension entitlements of individuals who have been employed in either nation and to foster collaborative efforts in pension security between the two countries.
Under the terms of the document, each state will independently award and disburse pensions based on the employment (insurance) history accrued within its own borders.
The quantum of pension payouts will be calculated according to the national laws of each respective country, taking into account factors such as length of service, salary levels, or insurance contributions made within its territory.
Furthermore, the agreement assures that a pension granted by one party will remain valid if the recipient relocates to the other state for permanent residency.
The document also establishes parity in pension security rights for citizens of both Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. It further outlines regulations for burial allowance payments, medical and social assessment procedures, personal data protection, and the exchange of information between the relevant authorities.
According to the transitional clauses, any work history accumulated before the agreement's effective date will be recognized in line with the national legislation of both parties, as well as the CIS Agreement of March 13, 1992.
The execution of this agreement is anticipated to secure the pension rights of citizens who have worked in both countries, enhance their social protection, and ensure an equitable division of responsibilities between the pension systems of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
