Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan Sign Treaty on Allied Relations
Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov signed a Treaty on Allied Relations alongside a suite of bilateral agreements covering borders, social security, education, and tourism.
Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan have formalized a Treaty on Allied Relations, marking a significant advancement in their bilateral cooperation. The agreement was signed by Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov after high-level discussions in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Following the treaty's signing, a ceremony took place where various bilateral agreements and documents were exchanged by the two heads of state. These documents are designed to broaden the scope of interaction between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Key agreements include a Treaty on the Sections of the Uzbek-Kyrgyz State Border, an Agreement on the Joint Use of the Chashma Spring, and an Agreement on State Social Insurance and Pensions.
Furthermore, an Agreement on the Mutual Recognition of Credits in Higher Education was established to foster academic mobility and collaboration between educational institutions in both nations.
The two countries also exchanged protocols that amend the intergovernmental Agreement on State Border Crossing Points and the Agreement on Mutual Travel of Citizens. A protocol related to the Agreement on Resort and Recreational Facilities in Kyrgyzstan's Issyk-Kul Region was also exchanged.
Additional documents signed encompass an Action Plan in Culture for 2026–2027, a Joint Action Plan for Tourism Development for 2026–2027, an Agreement concerning the Buston Resort in the Ton District of the Issyk-Kul Region, and a Practical Action Plan for the Agro-Industrial Complex for 2026–2027.
This comprehensive set of documents addresses numerous facets of bilateral cooperation, with the goal of reinforcing allied relations and enhancing economic, humanitarian, and cross-border connections between Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
