Uzbekistan and JICA Strengthen Free Economic Zone Collaboration

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – A meeting took place between Uzbekistan's Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, Laziz Kudratov, and a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), headed by Sakai Mamoru, the chief of JICA's Uzbekistan Office. This information was released by the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade.

Discussions centered on a collaborative initiative focused on expanding free economic zones, drawing in foreign direct investment, and fostering industrial growth within the nation.

A key point of the discussion was a technical cooperation project designed to optimize the functionality of free economic zones and boost Uzbekistan's appeal to investors.

Furthermore, attendees reviewed the findings of a diagnostic mission carried out by JICA, which involved pertinent ministries and the management of free economic zones.

Subsequent to the discussions, a protocol was signed by both parties, detailing the forthcoming stages for the execution of the joint project.

During the meeting, officials highlighted that this project is expected to reinforce the partnership between Uzbekistan and Japan, stimulate industrial advancement, and elevate the country's investment profile.
