Uzbekistan's Economy Ministry and the IMF discussed expanding cooperation and advancing the JISPA scholarship program for public sector professionals.

Uzbekistan's Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, Akhadbek Khaydarov, held discussions with Takashi Nagaoka, Director of the International Monetary Fund's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, regarding the advancement of their collaborative efforts and the execution of the JISPA capacity-building initiative. The Ministry of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan confirmed the meeting.

Key areas of cooperation were addressed during the talks, including broadening their partnership, enhancing human capital, and conducting collaborative analytical studies.

Significant focus was placed on the JISPA educational program, which aims to elevate the expertise of personnel within the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The participants deliberated on the program's importance and its potential for training specialists.

It was highlighted during the meeting that JISPA is a joint undertaking by the Government of Japan and the International Monetary Fund. Its purpose is to cultivate highly skilled public sector professionals from nations throughout Asia and the Pacific in the fields of economic policy, macroeconomic analysis, public finance, and institutional governance.

The program enables participants to pursue master's and doctoral degrees at prominent Japanese universities, specializing in economics, macroeconomics, public policy, and public finance. The curriculum adheres to international benchmarks, integrating theoretical instruction with practical proficiencies in formulating and executing economic reforms.

Furthermore, the program facilitates the exchange of knowledge with international experts, academics, and public administration specialists, thereby assisting participants in bolstering their analytical prowess and strategic thought.

Upon the completion of their studies, scholarship recipients are anticipated to return to the Ministry of Economy and Finance. There, they are expected to contribute to the formulation of economic policy, the reinforcement of financial stability, and the implementation of reforms designed to ensure sustained economic growth.

The meeting concluded with representatives from both the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the IMF reiterating their shared commitment to expanding cooperation and undertaking joint ventures.
