Tajikistan, IMF discuss human capital development and economic cooperation

Tajikistan and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) recently held discussions concerning enhanced collaboration in the areas of human capital development, professional education, and economic capacity building. The meeting involved Abdurahmon Abdurahmonzoda, Tajikistan's Minister of Economic Development and Trade, and Takashi Nagaoka, Director of the IMF's Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific.

According to Khovar, a central theme of the discussion was the reinforcement of bilateral cooperation and the expansion of avenues for cultivating skilled professionals to bolster Tajikistan's economic progress. A significant point of conversation revolved around increasing Tajikistan's involvement in the Japan–International Monetary Fund Scholarship Program for Asia (JISPA). This program offers advanced educational and training prospects for government officials and economists.

Both parties acknowledged the importance of the JISPA program in cultivating proficient specialists and bolstering the institutional capabilities of governmental bodies. Furthermore, the two sides explored broadening cooperation in the training of specialists across several key sectors. These included macroeconomic analysis, trade and investment policy, artificial intelligence, and the digital economy.

The meeting concluded with Tajikistan and the IMF reiterating their dedication to advancing collaborative endeavors. These initiatives are designed to foster human capital, strengthen institutional expertise, and support the nation's sustained economic development.
