Tashkent's "Green Wave" Traffic System Sees Further Expansion

A new segment of Tashkent's "Green Wave" traffic management system has been activated by the Traffic Management Center (TMC).

The system is now operational along a 1.7-kilometer portion of the Small Ring Road, extending from its junction with Bogibuston Street to the Chilanzar metro station.

The TMC reported that five traffic signals within this corridor have been synchronized by specialists. Notably, this section marks the first instance where a unified "Green Wave" operates continuously, 24 hours a day, in both directions simultaneously, facilitated by consistent traffic volumes.

Data from the center indicates that before the traffic lights were synchronized, navigating this stretch typically took around five minutes. With the system now in place, travel time has been reduced to 2 minutes and 45 seconds, signifying a decrease of approximately 45 percent.

Drivers adhering to the posted speed limits of 40 to 60 km/h can now traverse the intersections more fluidly, avoiding stops at red lights.

The TMC previously rolled out the initial phase of the "Green Wave" system on Buyuk Ipak Yuli Street, specifically from the Tura Buva Mosque to Salom Street, where 13 regulated intersections had their traffic lights synchronized.

Presently, the system encompasses 18 synchronized intersections across two major corridors in the capital, covering a total distance of 5.7 kilometers.

The TMC estimates that the average travel times along these routes have seen a reduction of approximately 30 percent.
