Tashkent's Chilanzar District Tears Down Unpermitted Buildings

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – The Chilanzar district administration in Tashkent has initiated the demolition of unapproved buildings and commercial establishments situated along Katartal Street. This action is part of a broader initiative aimed at enhancing the area's aesthetics and ensuring a secure urban setting.

According to the district authorities, structures and lightweight commercial outlets that were erected without the necessary permits are being removed from the sides of roads and pedestrian walkways.

Specifically, clearance operations have started near the Katartal Market, which is an extension of the Chilonzor Dehqon Bozori. The khokimiyat reported that these unauthorized structures had nearly entirely taken over the pedestrian areas, making it difficult for residents to move safely. The sidewalk is expected to be completely cleared once the work is finished.

Furthermore, the Nomdor cafe is being dismantled following a court order. The administration indicated that this establishment was constructed without the requisite permits. After receiving a warning, the business owner did not cease operations, which led the khokimiyat to file a lawsuit. The court subsequently ruled the structure illegal and mandated its removal.

Officials noted that the cafe owner was given the option to continue business operations at an alternative, legally compliant location. The khokimiyat also committed to helping employees who might lose their jobs due to the closure of the establishment find new employment.

The district administration advised business owners to only begin construction after securing all necessary permits, underscoring that any unauthorized structures will be removed through legal channels.
