Prosecutors investigate illegal demolition tied to New Port residential project in Tashkent
Prosecutors in Tashkent have opened a criminal case against officials linked to the New Port residential complex following allegations that a house was demolished before the relocation of its residents had been completed and that homeowners did not receive full compensation.
Prosecutors in Tashkent are looking into the unlawful demolition of a home connected to the New Port residential development.
The investigation began after a video circulated on social media showing residents of a house on Abdulla Qahhor Street in the Damariq neighborhood of Yakkasaray district alleging that representatives of the New Port residential complex had forcibly evicted them and failed to pay them the full compensation promised.
According to the Tashkent City Prosecutor's Office, a preliminary inquiry revealed that Mega Logistics Service LLC officials demolished the house before the completion of enforcement procedures for resident relocation.
The inquiry also uncovered that several residential buildings, specifically one 20-story, two 19-story, one 12-story, and one 2-story structure, were erected on the site without the necessary construction permits.
A criminal case has been initiated in response to the incident, and a preliminary investigation is in progress. The Tashkent City Prosecutor's Office has stated that it is closely monitoring the investigation.
