Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) – The Shakhrisabz district khokimiyat has issued a statement regarding a widely circulated social media video depicting the district khokim entering a private residence, criticizing its cleanliness, and ordering a fine for the owner.
The footage shows the district head examining the living spaces and utility areas, commenting on their state, and announcing that the video would be shared on the mahalla's Telegram channel. The mahalla chairwoman, also present, can be heard advising the homeowner on maintaining the house and its surroundings. The video concludes with the khokim instructing that a fine be prepared for "the street, for the house, and for the trash."
In response to media inquiries, the district khokimiyat released an official explanation. They stated that during a routine inspection, the khokim observed a house that appeared neglected from the exterior and inquired with the mahalla chairwoman if it was occupied.
The administration reported that the mahalla chairwoman mistakenly identified the neighboring property when explaining that elderly individuals with disabilities resided nearby. The khokimiyat clarified that both properties are adjacent and share a driveway, leading to the confusion. Subsequently, the khokim reportedly visited the correct residence.
The statement further asserts that both the khokim and the mahalla chairwoman obtained the owner's permission before entering the house. During the visit, the administration claims, recommendations were offered concerning the upkeep of the home and its adjacent land, as well as the efficient utilization of the household plot.
The khokimiyat underscored that the video was not recorded by press service personnel but by members of the "mahalla seven." They added that the clip was not posted on the khokimiyat's official information platforms but within a private working group.
The administration concluded by stating that the misunderstanding arose from the mahalla chairwoman's error in identifying the house, and that the visit's intention was not to demean citizens or infringe upon their right to privacy.
