Migration Agency Comments on Inspection of Migrants in Moscow

Uzbekistan's Migration Agency has released an official statement concerning inspections carried out on July 27 at a construction site located in Moscow's Ochakovo-Matveyevskoye district.

The agency reported that its representatives in Russia promptly visited the site to investigate after video footage of the control measures circulated in the media. Initial findings suggest that over 320 foreign nationals, including Uzbek citizens, were employed at the construction facility.

Currently, the agency, in collaboration with the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the Russian Federation, is conducting a legal evaluation of the incident. Further information regarding the outcome of this review will be released at a later time.

The Migration Agency reiterated its role as the designated state body responsible for safeguarding the labor and other legal entitlements of Uzbek citizens residing abroad.

Individuals who believe their labor or other legal rights were infringed upon during these inspections or in other situations are encouraged to contact the agency. Should legal representation be required, attorney fees can be reimbursed from the Migration Fund, with amounts potentially reaching up to $3,000.

The department noted that it presently partners with more than 15 legal firms throughout Russia.
