Senate approves law on market control
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The 18th plenary session of the Senate discussed the Law on Market Control.
In recent years, Uzbekistan has been implementing consistent reforms aimed at reliably protecting the rights and legitimate interests of consumers, ensuring the safety of products placed on the domestic market, as well as creating a fair and transparent competitive environment for business entities.
At the same time, it was noted that in practice there is no separate law regulating relations related to the identification of non-food products that may pose a threat to human life, health, property and the environment, their withdrawal from circulation and ensuring mutual cooperation between authorized state bodies on a unified legal basis.
The law introduces a unified legal mechanism in the field of market control. In particular, the basic principles of market control, the rights and obligations of authorized state bodies and economic operators, the procedure for conducting market control activities and the application of specific legal bases for the application of impact measures are being established.
The Law also establishes mechanisms for organizing market control based on risk assessment, conducting control purchases, conducting laboratory tests of products, withdrawing and recalling dangerous products from circulation, as well as promptly informing consumers.
It was noted that the rights of economic operators are guaranteed, and they are given the right to participate in market control activities, familiarize themselves with control materials, make audio and video recordings, as well as appeal decisions of authorized bodies in accordance with the established procedure, which will serve to more reliably protect the legitimate interests of business entities.
According to the senators, the adoption of the Law will ensure that only safe and compliant products are in circulation on the domestic market, more effectively protect consumer rights, increase the openness and transparency of state control, strengthen the honest business environment, and form a modern and effective system of market control in the country.
At the end of the discussion, the senators approved the Law.
