The Senate approved the law on market supervision.
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) —
At its 18th plenary session, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis approved the Law "On Market Supervision." The purpose of this law is to establish a unified legal system for monitoring the safety of non-food products circulating on the domestic market, according to the press service of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the discussion, it was emphasized that in recent years the country has consistently implemented reforms aimed at protecting the rights and legitimate interests of consumers, ensuring product safety, and creating a fair competitive environment for entrepreneurs.
However, until now, there has been no separate legislative act that comprehensively regulates issues related to the identification of dangerous non-food products, their withdrawal from circulation, and interaction between authorized government agencies.
This document introduces a unified legal mechanism in the area of market supervision. It defines the key principles of oversight, the rights and responsibilities of authorized government agencies and economic operators, the procedure for conducting control measures, and the legal basis for applying appropriate enforcement measures.
The law also provides for the implementation of risk-based market oversight mechanisms. These include test purchases, laboratory testing of products, the seizure and recall of hazardous products from circulation, and prompt notification of consumers.
Particular attention is paid to protecting the rights of economic operators. The law grants them the right to participate in market oversight activities, review inspection materials, conduct audio and video recordings, and appeal decisions of authorized agencies in accordance with established procedures.
According to the senators, the adoption of the law will ensure that only safe products that meet established requirements circulate on the domestic market, improve the effectiveness of consumer protection and the transparency of state oversight, and contribute to strengthening fair competition and the development of a modern market oversight system.
Following its review, the Law "On Market Oversight" was approved by the Senate.
