Russia has ended criminal proceedings against an Uzbek citizen following diplomatic engagement, and arrangements are under way for his return to Uzbekistan.

The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Kazan announced that Russian authorities have concluded criminal proceedings against an Uzbek citizen who was implicated in a law enforcement operation in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Region.
The diplomatic mission reported that this resolution was reached after engaging in discussions with the relevant Russian authorities through diplomatic channels.
Through collaborative efforts with the Nizhny Novgorod representative office of Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the competent authorities opted not to pursue criminal charges against the Uzbek citizen, identified as M. S., under Article 329 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Furthermore, the necessary arrangements are being made to facilitate the citizen's repatriation to Uzbekistan, in compliance with migration laws. His anticipated arrival in Uzbekistan is set for August 6, 2026.
The Consulate General affirmed its ongoing commitment to implementing essential consular and legal measures to safeguard the rights and legitimate interests of Uzbek citizens residing abroad.
