Pensioners from Uzbekistan who moved to Kyrgyzstan will be able to continue receiving their pensions.

Pensioners who have moved from Uzbekistan to Kyrgyzstan will now be able to receive their pension payments without any problems. This became possible thanks to the signing of a pension agreement between the two countries, as announced by the Pension Fund of Uzbekistan.

Alisher Rasulov, head of the fund's department, explained that until recently, pension payments ceased if an Uzbek citizen moved permanently to Kyrgyzstan. Now, in accordance with the new agreement, pension payments will continue. To do so, pensioners must open a bank account and provide its details to Uzbekistan, after which the Pension Fund will process the transfers.

According to the terms of the agreement, each country will be responsible for the assignment and payment of pensions based on work experience acquired in its territory. To fully implement this document, the parties will need to complete a number of procedures stipulated by their national legislation.

The Pension Fund of Uzbekistan also reported ongoing negotiations to conclude similar agreements with other CIS countries and neighboring states, including Turkey and Azerbaijan. In particular, the possibility of signing such documents with Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, and Turkmenistan is being discussed.

Currently, more than 4.36 million pensioners are registered in Uzbekistan, accounting for approximately 11% of the country's total population, or one in nine residents. The average pension in Uzbekistan is 1.688 million soums, while the minimum is 878,000 soums.

The largest number of pensioners—515,400—resides in the Fergana region, meaning that approximately one in eight residents of this region is a pensioner. Combined, the Fergana, Samarkand, Andijan, and Kashkadarya regions account for 41% of all pensioners in Uzbekistan. The smallest number of pensioners is registered in the Syrdarya region—111,300 people, which is 4.6 times fewer than in the Fergana region.

Previously, plans were reported to change the pension calculation procedure in Uzbekistan.
