Night attack in Kiev: there are dead and injured

Russian forces carried out another joint airstrike on the city of Kiev and the Kiev region on the night of August 8. Three people, including a child, were killed and three others were injured in the Brovary district of the Kiev region. Fires were also reported in two districts of the capital.

There were casualties and injuries reported in the overnight attack in Kiev.

According to Timur Tkachenko, the head of the Kiev regional military administration, three areas in the Brovary district were damaged. Among the dead was a child. Three people were also injured, one of them a minor.

According to Tkachenko, shrapnel from the airstrike damaged private homes, outbuildings and cars. A fire also broke out in a residential area. It is not yet clear whether the shrapnel belonged to a ballistic missile or an attack drone.

The Kiev city military administration also said that an airstrike alert had been issued in the capital at the time of the attack. A ballistic missile alert was issued around 3 a.m. local time.

Later, the city administration reported that four people had been injured in Kiev itself as a result of the Russian night attack. Emergency services are currently working to eliminate the consequences of the attack.

Ukrainian media reported that two powerful explosions were heard in Kiev overnight. The Ukrainian Air Force warned residents of the possibility of Russia using ballistic missiles from the north. Earlier, an airstrike alert was also issued in Kiev and its surroundings due to the threat of attack drones.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko said that, according to preliminary information, a fire broke out in a residential area in the Goloseyev district. In the Obolon district, reports were received of a fire in fuel tanks. Rescue and emergency services were called to the scene, and the extent of the damage is being determined.
