Kashkadarya regional authorities have introduced daily restrictions on heavy truck traffic between 09:00 and 19:00 to protect roads during extreme summer heat waves.
Kashkadarya Implements Daytime Restrictions on Heavy Truck Traffic Due to Severe Heat
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Hokimiyat of Kashkadarya Region has enacted temporary restrictions on heavy truck traffic during the day in response to the extremely high temperatures affecting the region.
These daily restrictions will be in place from 09:00 to 19:00 in Karshi, various district centers, and the public roads that link them. Local officials stated that this action is intended to maintain the structural integrity of the regional road network and to prevent early deterioration amid the ongoing heatwave.
As reported by Uzhydromet, an unusually hot air mass is sweeping across Uzbekistan from July 13 to July 17, 2026. Daytime temperatures are projected to reach between +41°C and +43°C on average, with northern, southern, and desert regions potentially hitting highs of +44°C to +46°C.
Authorities in the region have pointed out that such extreme heat can cause asphalt concrete surfaces to become excessively hot, which diminishes their load-bearing capacity. Heavy vehicles can exacerbate the situation, as softened asphalt is prone to rutting, permanent deformation, and other significant structural issues.
The Hokimiyat has called on drivers, as well as freight transport companies and organizations, to adhere strictly to the imposed restrictions and to plan their transport activities in accordance with the new daytime guidelines.
Previously, similar traffic control measures were implemented in the neighboring Surkhandarya Region, where heavy trucks are banned from operating between 10:00 and 19:00 on roads within Termez, regional district centers, and their connecting public highways.
