Japan Deports Uzbek Citizen Over Visa Violation
Japan deported an Uzbek citizen who remained in the country after his student visa expired and warned against visa violations and misuse of asylum procedures.
Japanese immigration officials have expelled an Uzbek national who overstayed his student visa, according to the Japanese Embassy in Uzbekistan.
The embassy reported that the individual initially entered Japan on a student visa but remained in the country unlawfully after its expiration. Subsequently, Japanese authorities apprehended him and deported him to Uzbekistan, with the Japanese government covering the costs.
A statement from the embassy emphasized that student visas are exclusively for educational pursuits and do not authorize employment.
The diplomatic mission issued a warning that foreigners found to be residing or working in Japan without proper authorization will face severe penalties, including arrest, detention in an immigration facility, and eventual deportation. It further noted that the Japanese government shares information regarding such infractions with the Uzbek government, which may lead to additional actions against these individuals upon their return to Uzbekistan.
The embassy also advised citizens to be wary of propositions suggesting that working in Japan on a student visa is permissible and to disregard such assertions.
Furthermore, the embassy refuted the erroneous belief that applying for refugee status grants foreign nationals the ability to reside or work in Japan for extended periods. It underscored that utilizing the asylum process for these reasons is prohibited. Should a refugee application be denied, the foreign national could face detention in an immigration center or deportation.
The embassy also cautioned that submitting false information or employing deceptive tactics during the refugee application process could lead to significant legal repercussions.
