Passengers were evacuated and metro services were temporarily suspended after a wild boar wandered into a metro station in central Budapest, the Budapest Transport Company (BKV) said.
The company said in a statement that "the animal briefly entered one of the carriages, but no passengers were injured. It then exited the carriage, descended the service stairs and crawled under a train at the station. BKV employees immediately evacuated and closed the station. All passengers left the area safely."

Budapest Mayor Gergely Karachon wrote on Facebook: "Due to a wild boar, bus services on the M2 metro line have been suspended. I never thought I would have to write about such an incident. It is unknown how the wild boar got into the Lajos Kossuth Square metro station."
According to Attila Feldvari, a spokesman for the Hungarian National Hunting Chamber, wild boars can pose a threat to humans. Therefore, the safest way to neutralize a wild boar when it encounters people is to shoot it.
It is not known where the wild boar was injured and how it got into the metro station.
